    Why doesn't The Server Center offer phone support?
    We prefer support requests to come through our ticketing system or email for a variety of reasons.

    First, it provides an audit trail of communication so that all the facts can be passed on to whomever may be working on your problem.

    Second, it allow us to focus on fixing problems instead of answering the phone.

    Third, due to there being multiple people in different locations available to handle requests it saves additional expenses.

    How long does it take to get my domain working?
    If you ordered a new domain name through us, it will take 24-48 hours. If you are transferring an existing domain name to The Server Center, it will take 24-48 hours after you make the DNS change with your registrar.

    Are you a reseller of a larger Web hosting company?
    No. The Server Center owns all of the software and hardware associated with its business. The Server Center support staff has direct contact with the server administrators at all times. When you get a virtual server with The Server Center, you are dealing directly with The Server Center or representatives of The Server Center.

    Do you offer an uptime guarantee?
    Yes. We Guarantee 99.5% Uptime for your websites. For more information see our Uptime Guarantee Policy. For your information our servers have been up 99.998% since we've opened.

    Are eggdrop bots allowed?
    No.

    Ok, I'm convinced, how do I transfer my domain name to The Server Center without downtime?
    To avoid downtime, please follow these procedures:

    1) Sign up an account using our online order form and it will be setup within the same business day. We will Email you an "Account Setup" letter which will include login information so you can upload your files to our server.

    2) After you're done uploading your files, contact your domain name registrar and have your domain name pointed to our DNS numbers below:

    Primary Server Hostname: NS1.THESERVERCENTER.NET
    Primary Server Netaddress: 207.44.144.193

    Secondary Server Hostname: NS2.THESERVERCENTER.NET
    Secondary Server Netaddress: 207.44.144.233

    3) Now, be patient. It will take about 48-72 hours for your registrar to update their DNS. Once it's updated, your domain name will point to your website that you have with us automatically.

    4) After you confirm that your website is pointed to The Server Center, go ahead and cancel your account with your previous hosting company.

    Do you offer 24/7 technical support?
    Yes, we offer 24/7 technical support via Email.

    How soon will my account be setup and ready to use?
    Account orders are placed in our queue system, and are generally created within the same business day (6-12 hours). To ensure proper setup all new accounts are first reviewed by our staff. You can start uploading and setting up your site as soon as you receive the welcome email. The welcome email contains all your information for accessing your account, as well as information on how to transfer your domain name to our servers.

    Do you offer Ecommerce or a shopping cart program?
    Yes! All web hosting packages besides the Starter Plan come with the Interchange shopping cart at no additional cost! On top of this we also provide you with a Secure Server to safely process your customer orders!

    How long does it take for me to get my money back if I want to cancel?
    All cancellation requests are processed once a week. For more information please see our Guarantee Policy.

    Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?
    You have unlimited access via FTP or FrontPage 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your Web pages on your own computer and upload files to your Web site at your leisure.

    Do you support Macintosh systems?
    Yes! You can use the Fetch program to transfer files from your MAC to our system. You can also use Telnet and the POP e-mail programs like Eudora, Claris E-mail and Netscape Mail.

    What are Domain Pointers?
    A domain pointer is when you have us setup a 2nd domain of yours to point to a subdirectory of your account so it will load a different site from the main domain on your account.
    Types: Domain Pointer -> Sub Directory This is when we point your domain name to a subdomain/subdirectory on your account. Domain Pointer -> Main Domain This is when we point your 2nd domain to your main domain.

    Do you offer a money back guarantee?
    YES! The Server Center offers a 30 day 100% satisfaction or your money back guarantee! Please view our Guarantee Policy for more info. If you are not happy with our service, just cancel it and get your money back.

    Can I order even though I do not live in the US?
    YES, you can still order with us. We can host all international domain names and also we accept many forms of payment. There will be one that you will be able to pay with.

    What is your connection speed and hardware/software like?
    Our servers are located in the world class EV1 center in Houston. The network consists of one DS-3 one OC-3 and 6 Gigabit Ethernet connections to the internet. We only use quality, top brand name hardware.

    What is your policy on SPAM?
    We do NOT tolerate SPAM, if we find you sending junk mail you will be banned and notified to the proper authorities. Please read our SPAM Policy.

    Does my website get a control panel?
    Yes. Every web hosting package comes with a web browser based control panel. The control panel includes many features including; email configurations, chat rooms, mailing lists, pre-installed cgi scripts, databases, chat rooms, and much, much, more. Visit the demo page for more information.

    Can I transfer my existing domain name to The Server Center servers?
    Yes, just be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain. You should keep the service with your current provider while waiting for InterNIC to complete the transfer process. We will provide you with a temporary URL address so you can mirror the site on our server. All email and web pages will still be accessed from your current site. When InterNIC announces the completion of the transfer there is a 72 hour propagation period where visitors could go to either site. At the end of the 72 hours you should contact your previous host to have them delete the old domain from their records and update their DNS record. If you use this same provider for your Internet access you will not be able to access your domain site at The Server Center until they update their DNS.

    What happens if I do not like your service?
    We are a company that wants to provide our customers with the best possible services at an affordable price. If we were unable to prove to you our great service, and you would like to cancel your account. All you have to do is fill out our cancellation form, and we will refund all hosting charges.

    What if my site breaks your "acceptable usage policy" rules?
    Users' sites may be suspended for violations of policy, or if extreme, or second time offenders, sites may be cancelled. Each occurance is dealt with on a case by case basis, and we try to work things out with every client.

    Do you offer password protected directories?
    Yes. Using the powerful web-based control panel you can easily protect any directory without having to manually edit .htaccess files. Our control panel makes everything easier for you!

    What kind of Technical Support do you provide?
    We will answer, help, fix any problems related to your web hosting account. We will provide support for all the services and features that we offer. We do NOT provide technical support for 3rd party software.

    I've seen web hosting cheaper than yours, what's the deal?
    Be careful of some providers that claim to give you everything for under $10/month. What they might be doing is putting you on a cheap Unix or NT server with 1000's of other domains. Our features are second to none and we stick to them. We have years of experience on Unix/Linux web hosting and we assure you we are planning on being around for a long time. We've spent thousands on research and development creating an automated system to instantly set-up and configure your account. When it comes to high quality performance web hosting we are miles ahead of the competition in terms of network connectivity, uptime, features, quality facilities, excellent control panels and friendly customer support.     How many virtual hosting accounts are located on each server?
    There are usually 70-80 virtual servers per host system. The load on the host systems are monitored 24/7 to have an aggregate hit count of 250,000-500,000 hits a day. At this level the server load is kept significantly below the capacity of the system.

    Why do I need a static/dedicated IP address?
    Dedicated IP's are useful if you want to use microsoft frontpage to publish your website before your domain resolves to our servers. This is also necessary if you want to be able to view your site via http://IP instead of http://IP/~username/ before your domain resolves.

    Can I have Warez, Appz, Serialz and or commercial software on my homepage?
    NO! If we find them in your directory or Links to them, your entire account will be subject to termination.

    Can I resell space within my own account?
    No. Your account is licensed for you only. Reselling or Adding your "Friends" web site (e.g. bob.somedomain.com) will lead to an account suspension.

    Why don't you offer "unlimited bandwidth"?
    There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. Any company that promises you unlimited bandwidth are counting on the fact that you will not use it, and if you do they will quickly find ways of either forcing you to pay for it, or restricting your site.

    Is there a minimum time contract/commitment required?
    You may choose your terms at sign-up. No contracts are required. You may cancel at anytime, there are no cancellation fees.

    What are your server specifications?
    We are always keeping our servers up to date with the latest technology. All of our servers are powered by 1.3 Ghz Intel Celeron processors, and a minimum of 512 MB of RAM. Unlike most hosting companies who put 400-500 sites on each server, we only put on 60-80 per server.

    Can I host an XXX/adult site?
    We do NOT host adult-oriented websites. Any content or links to XXX/adult sites will lead to your account being terminated.
